HOW DO I BECOME A PART OF EMMANUEL LUTHERAN CHURCH? At Emmanuel, you are always welcome to join us in worship, education, fellowship and whatever other means the Holy Spirit leads you to be a part of this community of faith. Our hope and goal is not just the accumulation of members, but rather the growth of disciples for Christ that make an impact on our world today. Through worship, education and learning, fellowship, service and sharing our faith God continues to use us to bring God’s kingdom into our world today.
For those who wish to learn more about Emmanuel Lutheran Church, we provide 3 opportunities to become more familiar with our ministry and mission, basic teachings and beliefs, as well as meeting new friends and becoming involved at Emmanuel. GET TO KNOW EMMANUEL This is an opportunity to get to know about the rich history of Emmanuel Lutheran, the mission and vision of Emmanuel, and ways in which you might become a more intentional part of the work of the congregation. This session is designed to help newcomers understand how Emmanuel came to be, what our current ministry looks like and is doing, and how newcomers can become involved at Emmanuel. This is a great opportunity to get to know about Emmanuel and what it is doing in the world today!
Emmanuel – God With Us! GET TO KNOW THE TEACHINGS AND BELIEFS OF THE ELCA Emmanuel Lutheran Church is part of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA). We are one piece of a much larger Church throughout the United States and the world that seeks to do God’s will through following Jesus Christ. This session will lead you through the basic teachings and beliefs of the ELCA Lutheran denomination to help you become familiar with what we believe about salvation, Scripture, sacraments, worship, vocation, mission and other important aspects of our faith.
GET TO KNOW OTHERS AT EMMANUEL This is an opportunity to help newcomers at Emmanuel to meet new friends. By meeting at the home of one of our members, this session is designed to help those new to Emmanuel to have opportunity to meet with others in similar life situations so as to have contacts and friends within the congregation. It is not only important to come to know about the ministry and mission of a church community, it is also important to know others and have the support of your community of faith.
* These sessions are intended to help acquaint you with Emmanuel Lutheran Church and its ministry and mission. We also hope they will give you opportunity to meet others on this journey as you discover how God might be calling you to use your gifts through Emmanuel. Those wishing to join Emmanuel are encouraged to attend all 3 of these sessions. However, if you are transferring in from another ELCA congregation, you may choose to skip the session “GET TO KNOW THE TEACHINGS AND BELIEFS OF EMMANUEL”. Dates and times for the sessions will be posted in our church publications for your convenience.
