Kids Against Hunger is a humanitarian organization committed to feeding the world’s starving children. Twelve children die every minute of starvation or malnutrition. The Kids against Hunger event is a meal-packaging program where in a couple of hours, 100 people can pack 10,000 meals!
Each meal is a highly nutritious rice-soy casserole fortified with 21 essential vitamins and minerals, dehydrated vegetables, and chicken flavoring. This meal helps to reverse the starvation process and improve physical health as well as the capacity to learn. Each bag contains 6 servings and can be prepared in less than 20 minutes by adding it to boiling water (see sample package at the display in the gathering area). These meals are distributed locally, internationally, and warehoused for natural disasters.
As volunteers package the food servings, they also get a chance to talk, share, laugh and connect with one another. More importantly, people are reminded of the importance of looking beyond themselves to serve the needs of others. The meal packaging event is May 5th at 10:30 am.
